Queer Reading Group (Manchester)

The Reading Group came into being in order to bridge the gap that is always there between what can be described as the Ivory Tower of academia and the “real world” of activism. The idea is to discuss texts (books, films, ‘zines, articles, television series, comic books, academic articles, people’s opinions/knowledge/experiences) in ways that are meaningful to us and with the tools we have available. Some of us have a Queer Theory background, some of us are long-time queer activists and some of us are new to both things. What is essential is that everybody’s opinion is valued and taken seriously. You don’t have to know anything about the academic side of things to come along and talk about what you think.
