Queer Reading Group

Date & time:
5 October 2008 3:00pm - 5:00pm

The first meeting of the Reading Group after its long spring/summer break!

The first discussion will be: “What is queer and what does it mean to us?”

We welcome people from a great range of backgrounds and would like to discuss the limitations and freedoms that the label queer allows. Many thoughts welcome! There will be coffee and tea and maybe even some food left…

Queer Reading Group (Manchester)

A reading group that tries to bridge the gap between queer academia and queer activism

The Reading Group came into being in order to bridge the gap that is always there between what can be described as the Ivory Tower of academia and the “real world” of activism. The idea is to discuss texts (books, films, ‘zines, articles, television series, comic books, academic articles, people’s opinions/knowledge/experiences) in ways that are meaningful to us and with the tools we have available. Some of us have a Queer Theory background, some of us are long-time queer activists and some of us are new to both things.
